Most of the events are unprecedented for viewers. Only those old enough to remember the British royal funeral on February 15, 1952 can remember what a royal and royal funeral was like.
But even for the Queen’s father, George VI, his funeral took place only at St. Louis, so maybe there’s some introduction to the point. Queen Elizabeth Sends A Christmas Greeting In An Unusual Year
When Princess Elizabeth was 21 years old, she traveled to South Africa with her parents and sister, Margaret. In one of his first speeches, televised from Cape Town, he dedicated his life to the benefit of the nation.
“This is a happy day for me; But it also makes a big impression and makes you feel like you’re moving forward in life with all the challenges and all the time,” said young Elizabeth.
Still a princess, she took a royal oath: “I declare before you that I must devote my entire life, whether long or short, to your work and service to our great royal family, to which we all belong.”
